This initiative aims to support high quality publishing of academic research in the universities through lucrative funds afforded to academic research published in the highly recognized academic periodicals in those academic and scientific networks in line with priorities of Saudi Arabia.
The project aims to achieve the following:
- Quantitative and Qualitative improvement of the university-classified academic publishing
- Upgrade the incentives program afforded to members of the academic teaching staff to encourage them for distinctive academic publishing
- Support the indices concerned with improvement of classification of the university among international universities
- Heading towards internationalism
Nature of Contract Agreement
- To publish an academic paper in a classified periodical: Q1 within the highest 15% as per Impact Factor
- A proposal is to be submitted to the R & D Initiative Support Department in King Abdul Aziz University according to the predesigned form
- The proposal will be subject to review and academic arbitration in order to verify satisfaction of standards and prerequisites
- A contract agreement will be inked by and between the applicant and University Deputy for Higher Studies and Academic Research
Terms and Conditions for Applying to the Initiative:
- The principal researcher who has submitted the published paper is affiliated to members of the teaching staff or researchers operating in the University.
- The principal researcher may not have the right to apply to the initiative for more than once.
- The principal researcher shall publish in the last five years in Q1 or Q2 of ISI Classification; and shall refer to so in the C.V.
- Annual rate of publication of the principal researcher shall not be less than three (3) academic papers in publications classified under ISI List
- Percentage of academic researchers enrolled in Saudi universities and participants in the academic paper shall be at least 60 % of total number of researchers.
- Recognition, in case of publishing, shall be extended to R & D Program, Ministry of Higher Education, as per the approved appreciation and recognition form – conditional on having no third party participating in Saudi Arabia
- The principal researcher shall submit an illustrative report highlighting the costs and expenses together with invoices to the University R & D Support Initiative so as to be filed in the documents of support entitlement
- Project duration shall not exceed the term of contract.
- The main address of the author in the published paper shall be affiliated to King Abdul Aziz University
- Academic paper shall not be previously concluded prior to the date of signing the contract (academic research submitted for publishing three months prior to the date of signing the contract will not be approved/considered)
- In case of non-compliance of the researcher to publish according to the contract agreement, the researcher shall then bring back all received amounts to the University’s R & D Support Initiative Department.
- This program is subject to all rules and regulations enforced and applied by the University
